Site Director - API

Hartmann Young is proud to be working on the search for a Site Director on behalf of a leading global contract manufacturer, specialising in Small Molecule, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients.

This role is responsible for ensuring the site's operational excellence, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, and financial performance. The Site Director will lead cross-functional teams to achieve ambitious growth targets while maintaining a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

-Provide strategic and operational leadership for all site functions, including production, quality, engineering, supply chain, EHS, and support services.

-Ensure compliance with cGMP, regulatory, and environmental standards, maintaining readiness for audits and inspections.

-Drive site performance through KPIs, continuous improvement initiatives, and operational excellence programs.

-Manage site P&L, budgets, and capital projects to meet financial goals.

-Develop and implement short- and long-term business strategies aligned with corporate objectives.

-Cultivate a strong leadership team and foster a high-performance, safety-first culture.

-Collaborate with business development, project management, and client services to support customer programs and ensure on-time delivery.

-Represent the site in global operations meetings and contribute to network-wide initiatives.

-Build and maintain strong relationships with regulatory authorities, suppliers, clients, and

internal stakeholders.

Required Experience & Skills:

-10+ years of progressive leadership experience in an API - CDMO environment.

-Deep knowledge of GMP regulations, quality systems, and regulatory requirements (FDA, EMA, etc.).

-Proven experience in managing complex operations and leading diverse teams.

-Strong financial acumen with experience managing P&L and capital investments.

-Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and change management skills.

Education & Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Life Sciences, or a related field. Advanced degree or MBA is a plus.
